Ability to manage patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
Experience titrating cardiac medications and ventilator management.
Description:
This position involves providing care in a cardiovascular intensive care unit.
The population served includes adults to geriatrics.
The unit specializes in managing patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, Swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, and CRRT.
Nurses typically care for 2 patients and work with a free charge nurse.
Close monitoring of patients is required, especially after procedures such as AAA repairs.
Effective communication among the care team is essential.
Nurses will be responsible for titrating cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients.
There is an intensivist present in the unit Monday through Friday, with multidisciplinary rounds occurring daily.
The unit has a total of 10 beds with an average daily census of 7.
Patient ratios are maintained at 1:1 to 1:2 based on acuity.
Collaboration with various interdisciplinary teams is an important aspect of the role.
Experience with charting systems is preferred.
Knowledge of managing patients with respiratory failure, dysrhythmias, and multi-system organ dysfunction is necessary.
Additional skills in emergency medication administration and procedural sedation monitoring are also required.
This position will require availability during major holidays and weekends, with a maximum of 7 days of requested time off.
Compliance with all necessary requirements is essential for employment.
