Job Summary
Operating Room RN responsible for evaluating patients prior to surgery, providing patient and family education, preparing patients, and supporting surgical teams in a fast‑paced operating room environment.
Position Details- Self/preferred scheduling posted four weeks in advance to allow schedule predictability
- Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff
- Continuous investment in equipment to promote patient safety and workflow efficiency
- Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure voice in patient care and workflow improvement
- On‑call required during select non‑business hours
- No travel required
- Evaluate patients prior to surgery
- Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri‑operative process
- Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
- Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols according to hospital policy
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – including providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others
- Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes in patient condition along with care provided thoroughly
- Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of employment start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of employment start date
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
