General Nature of WorkUnder limited to broad supervision, the nurse will conduct psychiatric assessments, assess physical health needs, make appropriate referrals to community physicians, provide management and administration of medication in conjunction with the psychiatrist, and deliver a wide range of treatment, rehabilitation and support services. The nurse will share shift management responsibilities with other staff and participate in the provision of treatment, rehabilitation and support services.
QualificationsA current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Other Desired QualificationsPreference will be given to those with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing. Candidates must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences, work in job markets, and have access to helpful, adequate, competent and continuous support services. Candidates must demonstrate the skills and ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect client rights and personal preference in treatment.
A valid driver’s license is required; candidates must not have more than two chargeable accidents, moving violations or DUI’s in a three‑year period per the seven‑year MVR report.
- A pre‑employment physical examination
- A fingerprint criminal records investigation
- A pre‑employment drug test and random alcohol/drug testing
- Males between 18 and 26 years of age must present proof of registration with the Selective Services System or an exemption
- An official transcript from the college that granted the hours and/or degree (primary source) furnished to the Human Resources Department
