Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, and evidence‑based practice and research.
Licensed RNs are expected to uphold the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the scope of practice, and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics while supporting service excellence goals.
- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
- Perform the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to individualize care.
- Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that is culturally sensitive and adapted to population‑specific characteristics.
- Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and timely teaching, keeping patient goals at the core of the plan of care.
- Practice current clinical standards and ensure safe, quality patient care through effective interdisciplinary coordination and documentation.
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care while promoting a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
- Support fiscal responsibility and the recruitment and retention of the healthcare team.
- Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all levels within the system.
- Professional Development and Initiative
- Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific training.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nurses and staff of all disciplines to cultivate a qualified future workforce.
- Evidence‑Based Practice and Research
- Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
- Participate in data collection, pose clinical questions, and consult experts to address practice issues.
- Uphold system policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements such as TJC Patient Safety Goals.
- Resources and Support
- Plan patient care across the continuum and participate in protocol development to achieve best‑practice outcomes.
- Support efficient use of human and material resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with All Wellstar Health System policies and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (Preferred)
- RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
- BLS – Basic Life Support (or ARC‑BLS or BLS‑I)
- All certifications are required on hire unless otherwise stated.
- Minimum 5 years RN experience, with direct patient care experience preferred.
- English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
- Basic computer skills and the ability to optimize technology for clinical care.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness and composure.
- Excellent time‑management and critical‑thinking skills, with evidence‑based nursing practice.
