Surgical Assistant, Operating Room Nurse, Cardiology
Description
Functions under the direction of the Department Manager and Clinical Coordinator. The Cardiovascular OR Specialty Nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care that is age appropriate, and addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and educational needs of the patient and family/support system. The Cardiovascular OR Specialty Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care in complex, multiple problem, urgent, emergent and lifesaving situations.
In addition, this nurse coordinates surgical suite activities, prioritizes and directs the surgical team in emergent situations with ease. She participates and coordinates staff development and professional self-development. This nurse is a role model and team leader who assists others in performing their responsibilities of patient care and organization support and is self‑directed. Functions in a full‑time position as a circulator or surgical tech during peak surgery hours.
Weekday, weekend and holiday call required. Some charge nurse responsibilities may be required.
- Shift: Mon‑Fri 6:00am‑4:30pm (4) 10hr shifts
- 7 call shifts in a 6‑week period
- CVOR experience required
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS – Instructor or ACLS‑P – ACLS‑Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
- 1 year experience
