Description:
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit will care for adult to geriatric patients. Patients are admitted via direct admission from associated clinics, physician offices, urgent care facilities, or other hospitals. The patient population includes intermediate level and medical surgical patients. Common diagnoses include dysrhythmias, congestive heart failure, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, acute coronary syndrome, and myocardial ischemia.
This position is in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient throughput while providing patient-centered care. Strong teamwork dynamics are essential. All patients will be on hardwire telemetry and self-monitored by the Registered Nurse. The nurse-patient ratio is 1 nurse to 4 patients in this unit. Experience with telemetry and patient monitoring is preferred. The unit utilizes electronic health record systems and medication management systems.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend unless specified otherwise. The traveler is expected to work on major holidays falling within the assignment period, with potential exceptions based on scheduling. Compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary for a timely start.
