Dialysis Nurse, Healthcare Nursing
Position Overview
Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Works as part of the hemodialysis health care team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Participates in implementation and evaluation of patient care and reports incidents, complaints, or problems to the supervisor.
Responsibilities- Customer Service
:
Drives the FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards, maintains relationships, and resolves customer service issues. - Patient Related Care
:
Provides direct patient care, performs all technical aspects of dialysis procedures, administers and monitors treatments, documents dialysis parameters, reports significant changes, educates patients and families, and manages emergency procedures. - Technical Duties
:
Operates dialysis equipment safely, troubleshoots equipment, maintains clean and sanitary environment, handles blood spills according to policies, and operates emergency equipment. - Staff Related Duties
:
Participates in staff meetings, assists in patient care planning, attends in‑service classes, serves as a resource for staff, and coordinates care with physicians, dietitians, and social workers. - Other duties as assigned.
Requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing, heavy lifting and moving of patients, and occasional travel between facilities. Must be able to lift equipment up to 200 lbs and lift 30‑lb water solutions. Work environment is a health care facility with moderate noise levels and possible exposure to infectious materials.
EducationGraduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN) with current state licensure.
Experience and Required Skills- One year of medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred. Hemodialysis and ICU experience preferred but not required.
- Successfully complete training in hemodialysis theory and practice, CPR certification, and the Nurses Technical Training Program.
- Ability to provide coverage during short‑staffing periods.
- Must pass Ishihara Color Blindness test.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
