Job Summary
The Evans Freestanding Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers high quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the ER RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”
The ER RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate interventions.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Responds promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving them proactively.
- Teaches patients, families and caregivers about the medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures. Translates complex terminology.
- Guides patients/families/caregivers in non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes, preparing them for future self‑management.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Emergency Nursing certification (e.g., Pediatric Emergency Nursing, PALS, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or completion of an Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree, obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
