Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional registered nurse responsible for the nursing care of a defined patient population. Care is provided through the nursing process and in a manner that is cost effective while maintaining quality of care and optimal patient outcomes. The RN performs assessments, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions and evaluates the effectiveness of care. The RN participates in unit based and organizational quality improvement initiatives, meets continuing education requirements, participates in student/new employee orientations/teaching activities, upholds Patient Care Services philosophy and objectives, demonstrates professional growth and development through involvement in professional organizations, reviews professional literature and participates in continuing education programs.
Responsibilities- Perform assessments, planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of care.
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in unit-based and organizational quality improvement initiatives.
- Meet continuing education requirements and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Participate in student and new employee orientations and teaching activities.
- Uphold the philosophy and objectives of Patient Care Services.
- Engage in professional growth through involvement in professional organizations and review of current literature.
- Engage in continuing education programs as applicable to the role and unit.
- Graduate from an accredited/approved school of nursing and 2+ years of RN experience in a related area (floors or critical care).
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).
- ACLS, PALS, or NRP (only in select units/departments) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Current Registered Nurse License (Georgia) or qualifying multi-state compact license.
- Bachelor's of Nursing.
- National specialty certification applicable to area of practice.
- Every other weekend and two minor and one major holiday.
