Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency, working night shifts on a 13-week contract.

Details
  • Telemetry unit in a hospital setting serving an adult to geriatric patient population
  • Diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5 across a 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 35
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic charting system required;
    Pyxis and SBAR communication also used
Requirements
  • Active RN license — GA license or Compact license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency with telemetry monitoring (on-unit), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Respiratory skills required:
    BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with heparin protocols and PCA management
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above) highly preferred
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RTO must be finalized prior to acceptance; RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment, and the maximum is 7 days per contract
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this health system in a permanent, per diem, or FCSS capacity must have been away from all facilities within the system for a full year before being considered as a traveler
  • Travelers who previously canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside of this health system before reapplying
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Travel pairs are not permitted on the same shift within the same unit
  • No alternate shift or schedule requests are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
