American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring OCN certification and GA or compact RN licensure.
Details- Work in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit of a hospital environment
- Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics with oncology and hematology diagnoses
- Care spans diagnosis through end-of-life, including DNR/comfort care and oncologic emergencies
- Patient ratio of 1:6 on a 19-bed unit with an average daily census of 15
- Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within the facility and possibly to a sister campus approximately 3 miles from the main campus
- Occasional off-service assignments may be required
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- Current BLS certification required
- OCN certification required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Required Epic charting system experience
- Experience with chemo precautions, morphine and dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line/implanted line care, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience administering chemotherapy and monitoring for chemotherapy effects, including body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- Knowledge of neutropenic precautions
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Provide direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients across the continuum from diagnosis to end-of-life
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Holiday coverage required based on the number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
- Major holidays include New Year's Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and Christmas Eve/Day
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously unable to return to a facility must complete one successful assignment outside Piedmont before rebooking
