Cardiac Stepdown Nurse

The Cardiac Stepdown Nurse provides specialized care for adult to geriatric patients with complex cardiac conditions in a high-acuity step-down setting. This role demands clinical expertise, adherence to protocols, and the ability to work within a team environment to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients with post-myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, and peripheral vascular disease.
• Administer medications and treatments following physicians’ orders and facility protocols.
• Utilize Epic EMR and other unit systems to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans.
• Respond promptly to patient changes, including arrhythmias identified via telemetry, EKG, or Doppler.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, including BLS and ACLS certifications.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid RN license for Georgia or a compact state.
• Have at least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or cardiac stepdown experience.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required prior to start.
• Demonstrate proficiency in telemetry monitoring, EKG interpretation, and Doppler usage.
• Exhibit strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed.
