Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN with at least 2 years of experience for a 13-week day shift assignment, and first-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Details
  • Telemetry unit within a hospital setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
  • Patient diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5 on a 16-room unit
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication tools
Requirements
  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including central line care, peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (non-titration) and PCA
  • Knowledge of heparin protocols and IV insulin protocols
  • Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
  • Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
  • Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide telemetry-level nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and related conditions
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized prior to submission
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on how many major holidays fall within the assignment: work 1-2 holidays with no holiday RTO permitted, or work 2 of 3 holidays with limited holiday RTO consideration
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Previous Piedmont Health employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Returning travelers who were previously cancelled or given a DNR at a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
  • Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests permitted
  • Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
