American Traveler is hiring a Renal Med/Surg RN for a day shift hospital assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and GA or compact RN licensure.
Details- Medical Surgical unit with a focus on renal patient care in a hospital setting
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 49-room unit with an average daily census of 48
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication method
- Every other weekend work required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior experience with a 1:6 patient ratio preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skills in respiratory care, including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration preferred
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills preferred, including central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management preferred
- Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA preferred
- Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience preferred
- Telemetry and MS/Tele experience preferred
- Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience preferred
- Surgical drain management experience preferred
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams preferred
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Provide direct patient care on a busy renal-focused Medical Surgical unit
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
- No RTO or schedule change requests permitted after offer or during orientation week
- Holiday coverage required based on the number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (up to two of three major holidays)
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously cancelled or declined by Piedmont must complete one assignment outside the Piedmont system before reapplying
