Description:

RAPID RESPONSE 8/10 LATEST START 48 HOURS PER WEEK NO SPECIAL SCHEDULING OR REQUESTED TIME OFF REQUIRED

Procedures performed on this unit include IV insertion, Foley catheter insertion, NG tube insertion, and assisting providers with various emergency department procedures.

General comments on staffing:
Day shift staffed with charge nurses, registered nurses, paramedics, patient care technicians, and nurse educators. Night shift also staffed with charge nurses, registered nurses, paramedics, patient care technicians, and nurse educators. Patient ratios on this unit are 1:4. Type of equipment used includes Pyxis, GE Monitors, Zoll defibrillators, Welch Allyn, and Dynamap vital signs machines. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech.

Ideal candidates should possess a motivated, easy-going, and friendly personality. Team-oriented and patient-centered attitudes are essential. Advanced skills are necessary for experienced emergency department registered nurses. The procedures commonly performed include IV starts, ECGs, trauma care, cardiac assessments, and stroke management. The dress code consists of royal blue scrubs. Self-scheduling is practiced, with four weekend shifts required per month, two of which must be consecutive.

New equipment and technology are available, offering opportunities to learn new skills, such as running BiPAP and ventilator equipment and point-of-care labs. There is a strong focus on building a fully staffed team. Candidates must be flexible and work every other weekend as part of their schedule.
