Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).The unit has a total of 15 beds, with 9 used as recovery bays.
The remaining beds function as pre-operative areas for burn inpatients.
Patient ratios are 1 nurse for every 2 patients.
The unit is staffed with 7 RNs plus a Charge Nurse.
1-2 patient transporters are available during day shifts.
The type of equipment includes a documentation system:
Meditech.
The shift schedule typically consists of 3 twelve-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts with on-call duties (2 per month).Floating between PACU and other areas may be required.
The department focuses on recovery from various surgical procedures, involving a unique patient population including burn, wound, and plastic surgery patients.
Emergent intubations and bedside cauterizations may be performed when necessary.
