Travel RN - Operating Room - Outpatient Surgery​/Same Day Surgery

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Outpatient Surgery position requiring 2 years of experience and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be willing and able to start IVs
• Experience with conscious sedation, general, and local anesthesia required
• First-time travelers are accepted

• Outpatient Surgery unit covering Pre Op, Post Op, and Phase I PACU
• Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Surgical specialties include retina surgery, total hip/knee, hand surgery, breast oncology and reconstruction, ENT, lap chole, hernia repairs, and podiatry
• Patient ratio of 1:4 across 5 rooms with average daily census of 10-18
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system
• Day shift schedule with (4) 9-hour shifts on a varied rotation (6-3:30, 6:30-4, 8-5:30, 8:30-6)
• No weekend shifts required
• Floating required across all divisions of Outpatient Surgery
• No formal call requirements, though staying past shift end may be expected based on remaining case load
• Provide nursing care across Pre Op, Post Op, and PACU phases for outpatient surgical patients
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• No RTO can be requested during orientation week or after offer/onsite
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment (1-2 holidays: full coverage required; 3 holidays: one may be requested off)
• Major holidays include Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler if previously employed permanently, PRN, or as internal staff
• Returning travelers who were cancelled or deemed not returnable must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
• Candidates will undergo a clinical screening to determine fit before manager review
