Position: Senior Safety Specialist [RW-15058]

A leading metals manufacturing and recycling company is looking to add a Senior Safety Specialist to its operation in the Augusta, GA area. This person will be tasked with supporting site-wide health and safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across a complex industrial environment. The role will work closely with employees and leadership to strengthen safety performance, reduce risk, and promote a proactive safety culture.

It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EHS professional to play a visible role in the growth and development of a large-scale manufacturing operation.

The Role:
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections to identify hazards and support the implementation of effective control measures.
  • Deliver safety training programs and promote safety awareness for employees, contractors, and visitors across the facility.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence and improve performance.
  • Analyze EHS data, maintain compliance documentation, and prepare reports to support management decision-making and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, EHS program development, and cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
The Candidate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 3+ of EHS experience within manufacturing, industrial, chemical, metals, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and demonstrated experience with compliance auditing, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Experience supporting emergency preparedness programs, drills, and safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive a positive safety culture.
