Research Assistant - MCG-Pharmacology & Toxicology

Position responsibilities include carrying out routine tasks in the research laboratory, including maintenance of cell cultures, basic molecular biology, biochemical assays, tissue collection, and genotyping. The role will assist the Principal Investigator and Senior Research Associate with experimental procedures, data collection, and general maintenance of laboratory resources and equipment.
Responsibilities- Maintenance and propagation of mammalian cell cultures, transfection, gene editing, gene cloning, genotyping, western blotting, mouse breeding, and microscopy.
- Procurement and maintenance of laboratory resources and upkeep of the laboratory.
- Perform experiments designed by the PI using biochemical, cell culture, and molecular assays.
- Perform breeding, maintenance, and database management for animals; schedule all treatment protocols and treat animals.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols and publications.
- Analyze results using manual or computer techniques, summarize findings, and generate figures for publication.
- Order supplies, stock the lab, and maintain cleanliness of laboratory and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related natural science, and experience in a research or clinical setting.
- OR an Associate degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Some previous laboratory experience is desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgement while working independently.
- Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). - Salary: $17.88 per hour. Pay Band: B5. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
- This position is funded through external sources; continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
- Recruitment Period:
