The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will accomplish this by assembling teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development. The IMMCG will be co‑directed by world‑class immunologists Drs. Catherine, Lynn, Hedrick and Klaus Ley, both of whom have made major discoveries linking immune cells to specific mechanisms of disease.

The goal of the IMMCG is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States. The new center is aggressively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neuro‑degenerative disease and cancer.

Job Summary

Performs work related to Bioinformatics analyses in the field of cardiovascular. Dr. Redouane Aherrahrou Lab.

Responsibilities
  • Design and perform Bioinformatics analyses in cardiovascular genomics, such as GWAS, molecular QTL, drug screening, biomarker identification, precision medicine, single‑cell RNA and ATACseq, and single‑cell CRISPR screening techniques.
  • Maintain research database, communicate well with other laboratory members, and work well as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with computational and wet‑lab biologists for mechanism elucidation.
  • Prepare written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
  • Maintain and organize large amounts of genetic data and summary statistics.
  • Supervise junior members in the lab.
  • Assist PI for writing publications and grant applications.
Required Qualifications

Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area and experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research; or

  • Bachelor's degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years of research and/or clinical experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift, Salary, Benefits
  • Shift: Days, Monday – Friday (outside normal business hours may be required).
  • Salary: $45,400 – $56,700 annually.
  • Pay Band: B8.
  • Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint).
  • This position is (fully/partially) funded through external sources; continued employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
  • Recruitment Period:
    Until Filled.
  • Benefits for full‑time employees and some part‑time employees: health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), earned vacation time, sick leave, 13 paid holidays.
