The incumbent will conduct basic bench research related to: (i) defining mechanistic determinants of neuroendocrine differentiation in advanced prostate cancer; (ii) designing novel exosome‑based therapeutics for advanced prostate cancer. Specifically, the incumbent will focus on (1) performing in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies using prostate cancer cell lines and prostate cancer animal models, (2) laser capture microdissection of prostate tissue samples, mRNA extractions from tissues and mRNA analyses, (3) analysis of micro
RNA/gene expression in prostate cancer clinical tissues, cell lines and serum samples, (4) developing engineered/designer exosomes from cell lines, (5) exosome isolation and characterization, and (6) having in‑depth working knowledge of prostate cancer mouse models including transgenic mice.
- Perform technical work in support of ongoing research projects, participate in data collection and documentation, and develop new research techniques and procedures.
- Manage day‑to‑day laboratory activities including ordering, updating inventories, preparing appropriate reagents and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Analyze and present data verbally and/or in writing, working within the guidelines and protocols of research projects.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.
- OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields and a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Bachelor of Science with emphasis in biochemistry, chemistry, genetics or molecular biology and/or previous experience in a research laboratory is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases, emphasis on statistical analysis tools is desirable.
- Knowledge/experience in Cancer Biology and/or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong team‑building skills.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
- Manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities to achieve desired goals.
- Use sound judgment and work independently under minimal supervision.
- Work with guidelines and protocols of research projects and learn gaps in training.
Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday
Salary: $17.88 hourly
Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position.
