Job SummaryA position designed to learn through engagement in advanced scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. Responsibilities include data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines, development and evaluation of new research techniques, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and supervision and coordination of lab personnel.
Responsibilities- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols, ensuring adherence to scientific principles and federal guidelines.
- Perform a variety of experimental studies (cell biology and molecular biology), including animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and tissue collection.
- Analyze experimental results using confocal and brightfield image analyses and develop computer programs for analysis when needed.
- Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results.
- Manage mouse colonies and inventories; coordinate testing of mice.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel.
- Advise the PI, postdocs, students, and other staff on research techniques and procedural matters.
- Manage continuous operation of the laboratory, order supplies and animals, track costs and expenses, and update inventory records.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related natural/life/health science, with experience in basic, clinical, or translational research; or
- Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years of research or clinical experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software/database applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (outside normal business hours may be required). Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Position funded through external sources; continued employment contingent on funding availability. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, optional retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Full‑time employees eligible for Tuition Assistance after six months of employment.
