Job SummaryThe position is in a lab studying immune‑taste interactions to understand mechanisms of taste bud regeneration. Two major ongoing projects are conducted using transgenic and knockout mice: (1) determining how cytokines impact taste bud regeneration after neural injury; (2) investigating the role of the ACE2 receptor in the taste system relevant to taste loss after COVID‑19 infection.
Responsibilities- Prepare solutions and media needed for experiments.
- Perform cell/tissue cryopreservation and mammalian stem cell, oocyte, and embryo experiments.
- Maintain accurate daily records of laboratory results.
- Summarize and analyze experimental data.
- Determine needed supplies, place orders, and maintain inventory databases.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is functional and maintain service records.
- Prepare and update animal use, biosafety, and chemical protocols.
- Maintain colonies of research animals and breed mutant mouse lines.
- Perform related duties/tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related natural sciences, plus experience in a research or clinical setting, especially clinical trials research.
- OR an Associate's degree in the same fields plus a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting.
- Experience in cell and molecular biology techniques, reproductive and developmental biology, and lab management.
- Team work and collaboration.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Meet deadlines and work independently under general supervision.
- Ability to work with research animals.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software/databases.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required)
Salary: Pay Band B5, commensurate with qualifications within established range.
