Job SummaryA training position designed to learn through engagement in advanced scientific, technical, and administrative work in support of research. Responsibilities include data collection, documentation, development of new techniques, and publishing results.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications; present findings at scientific meetings.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols ensuring adherence to scientific principles and federal guidelines.
- Study signaling mechanisms in the brain using patch-clamp electrophysiology, live confocal imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, and 3D cell reconstruction.
- Compose articles for publication in scientific journals.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel; advise principal investigators and postdocs on techniques and procedures.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and operate microscopes, computer-linked analytical equipment, and other scientific equipment; instruct others in operation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred QualificationsExpertise in cardiovascular diseases and neurodegeneration research, including hypertension, heart failure, and Alzheimer’s disease, using animal models.
Preferred ExperienceExperience with molecular biology, microcirculation, patch-clamp electrophysiology, in vivo two-photon imaging, live confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, RNA-seq, and rodent surgeries is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days, Monday-Friday; salary commensurate with qualifications within established range. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Tuition Assistance Program is available after 6 months of employment.
