College/Department

The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) is a new initiative of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University focused on leveraging the immune system to combat disease. The center assembles teams of biomedical researchers to develop novel treatments for cardiovascular disease, obesity, metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious diseases, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer.

Job Summary

A lab applying in‑silico and in‑vitro methods to unravel genetics of cardiovascular diseases, with large datasets and collaborations such as CARDIoGRAMplus

C4D and Leducq.

Responsibilities
  • Bioinformatics:
    Application of GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, single‑cell RNA‑seq and ATAC‑seq, single‑cell CRISPR screening.
  • Genetics:
    Study genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Collaboration:

    Work with computational and wet‑lab biologists on mechanistic studies.
  • Presentation:
    Prepare written and oral presentations for team and public.
  • Mentoring:
    Supervise staff and students.
  • Data Management:
    Maintain and organize large genetic data and summary statistics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related fields from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cardiovascular genomics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness/ability to work with research animals.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

Days, Monday‑Friday; salary commensurate with qualifications. Full‑time benefits include health, dental, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
