This is a training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory or clinical research setting.
Responsibilities- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. (Molecular biology-subcloning, PCF and mutagenesis).
- Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Teach and participate in complex bacteriological, chemical and radio‑chemical qualitative and quantitative analysis, macro and micro‑serological, histologic and cell culture procedures.
- Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature, summarizing and evaluating findings. Develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally and internationally. Compose articles for publication in scientific journals. Review articles prepared by others.
- Supply administration, ordering and chemical inventory maintenance.
- Perform experiments – microscopy, spectroscopy, electrophysiology, immunoblotting, and ELISA.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and operate microscopes, computer‑linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific equipment; instruct others in operation of equipment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research.
- OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years’ research and/or clinical experience.
- Experience with animal handling and breeding.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
- Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
Shift: Days;
Monday‑Friday. Work outside of the standard business hours may be required.
Pay Band: B8. Salary: $45,400 – $56,700 annually, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
