Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG)
The IMMCG is a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University that brings together biomedical researchers to develop novel treatments for cardiovascular disease, obesity, autoimmune disorders, infectious disease, neurodegeneration, and cancer.

Research Associate seeking to contribute to innovative research on metabolic adaptations that regulate immune cell fate and function, particularly in cardiovascular disease. The role involves leading key research projects under Dr. Rasheed, mentoring junior trainees, and supporting the lab’s publication and funding efforts.
Responsibilities- Manage research projects under Dr. Rasheed, ensuring alignment with lab goals.
- Implement experimental protocols in molecular biology, microscopy, animal models, and flow cytometry.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot challenges, and collaborate with lab members.
- Mentor graduate students and junior trainees in technical skills and research execution.
- Assist in preparing findings for publication in peer‑reviewed journals and supporting laboratory funding efforts.
- Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field, with research or clinical laboratory experience, especially in clinical trial research.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields, with a minimum of three years of research and/or clinical experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Life or Health Sciences, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related fields.
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Vascular Biology, Hematology, or related fields.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software/databases.
- Knowledge of AU procurement procedures, institutional, grant, contract, state, and federal regulations.
- Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, technical, organizational, observational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and mentor junior lab members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize efficiently, and collaborate with a research team.
- Willingness and ability to work with animal models, including handling, dissection, and tissue collection.
- Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (may require work outside normal business hours).
- Salary: $45,400–$55,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications.
- Pay Band: B8.
- Funding:
Position fully or partially funded through external sources; continued employment contingent on funding availability. - Recruitment Period:
Until Filled. - Full‑time benefits: health, dental, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or optional retirement plan), vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Tuition Assistance Program for employees with more than six months of service.
