Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position include mouse colony management and care tasks such as weaning, breeding, clipping, PCR genotyping, and record keeping. The employee will also assist with administrative tasks such as ordering, invoice management, and maintaining stocks relevant to mice (e.g., Western diet). After training, the employee will work under minimal supervision on a day‑to‑day basis and will be capable of managing their own duties and research efforts effectively.
Responsibilities- Assist with animal colony through breeding and weaning to avoid overcrowded cage penalties.
- Collect tail clippings from mice and prepare for shipping twice a week.
- Enter and track genotyping results.
- Place mouse orders and receive new mice into the database.
- Assist with mouse colony management software.
- Generate reports on specific mouse lines and meet with supervisors to start new lines (Genetics).
- Observe animals daily to assess health, environmental conditions, and social environment.
- Administer special diets.
- Maintain cage cards, animal histories, and other required records.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDetail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the immune system to combat disease. The center will assemble teams of biomedical researchers to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer.
Shift, Salary & BenefitsShift: Days;
Monday‑Friday (work outside of standard business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B5.
Salary: $17.88 – $17.94 per hour, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.

Full‑time employees who have been employed for more than six months may be considered for a tuition assistance program.
Conditions of EmploymentAll selected candidates must successfully pass a background check review prior to starting. Depending on the duties, the candidate may need to complete a credit check for positions of trust or approved departmental purchase card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and post‑secondary coursework transcripts.
