Job Summary

A position designed to learn through engagement in advanced scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. The role includes participation in data collection and documentation, development of new research techniques, maintenance of lab equipment, supervision of lab personnel, and management of complex experiments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform experimental studies including cell biology, molecular biology, pathology, pharmacology, and behavioral experiments under guidance (e.g., animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, tissue collection).
  • Operate microscopes and imaging scanners to capture images and maintain imaging data.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results, mouse colonies, and inventories.
  • Manage continuous operation of the laboratory—order supplies and animals, track costs and expenses, update inventory spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and research personnel; assist postdocs, students, and others with research techniques and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, with experience in a research or clinical setting.
  • OR associate degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
Shift, Salary, and Benefits
  • Shift: Monday‑Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required).
  • Pay Band: B5. Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
  • Recruitment Period:
    Until filled.
  • Benefits may include health, dental, and life insurance;
    Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
  • Full‑time employees eligible after 6 months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.

  • Motor vehicle reports required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle.
