Job SummaryPosition responsibilities include carrying out routine tasks and research experiments under the direction of the Principal Investigator and other senior lab personnel. Duties involve maintenance of cell cultures, basic molecular biology, biochemical assays, tissue collection and genotyping, mouse breeding, project planning, developing research protocols and publications, general laboratory maintenance, and any other assigned duties.
Responsibilities- Assist the principal investigator or senior technician with research studies and experiments using biochemical, cell culture, and molecular assays.
- Assist in mouse breeding colonies: perform breeding, maintenance, database management for animals, schedule all treatment protocols and treat animals.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols and publications.
- Assist with general lab procedures, maintenance, and cleaning.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area and experience in a research or clinical setting.
- OR Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields and a minimum of three years’ experience in a research or clinical area.
- Specific experience testing small animals in behavioral tasks.
- Previous experience in cell imaging using confocal microscopy and handling mice (strong preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
Shift: Days; M‑F (work outside of standard business hours may be required). Pay Band: B5. Salary: $17.88–$21.92 hourly, commensurate with qualifications within the established range. The position is fully funded through external sources; continued employment depends on ongoing funding. This is a full‑time position with benefits including health, dental, life insurance, optional retirement plans, earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
Eligible employees may also qualify for Tuition Assistance after six months of service.
All selected candidates must successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting. Depending on duties, a credit check may be required for positions of trust or for approved departmental purchase card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving a university vehicle. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and transcript(s); foreign‑trained candidates must provide educational credential evaluation.
