Job Summary: The candidate needs an undergraduate degree with computer language knowledge and skills. The candidate will use R, Matlab, Python, C++ and image processing to assemble and analyze big data, including image data for our precision medicine laboratory.
Responsibilities- Perform dataset collection and assembly for the lab.
- Clean genomic data and perform image processing of high-content imaging data generated by the lab.
- Conduct big data analyses, including in‑house and public gene/drug data, and correlation analysis of drug sensitivity data generated in the lab.
- Generate programs to facilitate data analysis in the lab and produce graphs and results for publication.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or another natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research. OR Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field plus a minimum of three years’ experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred QualificationsCompleted an undergraduate degree with computer‑related training and experience using R, Python, Matlab and image processing.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAbility to maintain confidentiality, detail‑oriented approach, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/BenefitsShift: Days, Monday‑Friday. Pay band: B5. Minimum salary: $17.88, commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Benefits for full‑time, benefits‑eligible employees include health, dental, life insurance, retirement (Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan), earned vacation time, sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and tuition assistance for employees with more than six months of service.
Conditions of EmploymentAll selected candidates must successfully pass a background check before starting. Where applicable, a credit check may be required for positions of trust or departmental purchase‑card use, and motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions involving driving an institutional vehicle. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and, if trained abroad, an educational/credential evaluation.
