Job Summary
Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models. Perform drug treatment, behavioral tests, stereotactic surgery, and a range of chemical, biological, histological, and computational procedures. Manage transgenic mouse colony, prepare specimens for histology and molecular analysis, and develop experimental protocols. Prepare and submit manuscripts and grant applications, providing figures, methods, and technical expertise. Mentor junior lab members to foster a collaborative, high‑performance lab culture.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on neurodegenerative disease and microbiome, including drug treatment and behavioral testing of mice.
- Implement standardized protocols for specimen collection, including brain and peripheral organs, and prepare samples for histology and biochemical analysis.
- Perform stereotactic surgery and a variety of complex cellular, chemical, and computational analyses.
- Manage transgenic mouse colony and perform small animal surgical and behavioral procedures.
- Identify and implement improvements to experimental and analytical pipelines.
- Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation, including figures, methods, and technical support.
- Mentor junior lab members, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related natural or health science field, with experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research; OR
- Bachelor's degree in the same fields with at least three years of research/clinical experience and previous supervisory experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
Shift: Days;
Monday–Friday (outside of standard business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B8. Salary commensurate with qualifications within the position range. Position funded through external sources; continued employment contingent upon funding availability.
