Research Assistant – MCG‑Clinical Trials Office
Job : 300088 Location: Augusta University
Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular
This position will complete data entry, handle biohazards, schedule study visits, perform office duties, audit, and travel.
Responsibilities- Data entry into Microsoft Excel or Access and may include data abstraction from the electronic medical record into an electronic data capture system.
- Check temperatures of freezers and refrigerators and maintain an accurate log.
- Orient new research assistants.
- Ship blood or specimens in accordance with regulations and learn how to handle biohazard materials.
- Screen eligible patients in the electronic medical record system and answer office telephone.
- Maintain a study file or binder.
- Schedule future study visits; if trained, accurately measure height, weight, and vital signs in the clinic and safely draw blood for study laboratories.
- Assist with other duties as needed, including reporting during weekends or after hours.
- Run errands in the office, university, and hospital, maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Work with students in the conduct of a study.
- If required, be trained in aseptic techniques in the Operating Room and may travel to an outside health facility.
- Audit other research assistants and store study medications properly.
- Perform all other related duties.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, healthcare, or materials science directly related to the research area and experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
- OR Associate's degree in a related field and a minimum of three years' experience in research, basic science, or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
- Experience with databases, operating systems, spreadsheets, and BLS.
- Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
- Ability to remember protocols, listen, and walk more than sit.
Shift: Days; M‑F (work outside of standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B5
Salary: $17.88‑$17.94 hourly (commensurate with qualifications within the established range)
Recruitment Period: Until Filled

Conditions of EmploymentAll selected candidates must successfully pass a background check review prior to starting. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and relevant transcripts; foreign institution‑trained candidates must provide an educational/credential evaluation.
