Location:

Augusta University Health Sciences Campus and Summerville Campus, Augusta, GA. The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is part of this institution, with regional clinical campuses and partnerships across the state.

Job Summary

Performs advanced administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in an assigned laboratory or clinical research unit. Participates in research data collection and documentation within FDA guidelines and research institute protocols; develops and evaluates new research techniques and procedures. Performs a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytological, microscopic, histological, surgical and/or dissection procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Experiments
    :
    Perform general molecular biology experiments including microscopy, flow cytometry, PCR, cloning, western blot, immunohistochemistry, etc.; produce and purify experimental viruses (including lentivirus and oncolytic virus); maintain cell culture including tumor and immune cells; perform in vitro manipulation (transfection, infection and coculture); plasmid preparation, lentiviral vector production, etc.
  • Set-up
    :
    Set up mouse breeding cages, wean, inventory breeding mice; manage mouse genotype; transfer mice to the researcher.
  • Perform Treatments
    :
    Tumor inoculation; mouse surgery; treatments with anti-tumor agents; monitor tumor growth; IVIS imaging, MRI scan; collect specimens from mice and perform downstream analysis.
  • Inventory
    :
    Make inventory of lab supplies; order research materials; stock lab supply areas; cleaning and autoclave procedures.
  • Other Duties
    :
    Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Cancer drug development. Experience with Oncolytic viruses.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
  • Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an exempt position)
  • Pay Band: B8
  • Salary Range: $45,400 annually - $48,711.65 annually
  • Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range
  • Recruitment Period: 6/25/26 - Until Filled
