Field data collection: evaluating performance of wild pig attractants, operating remote camera arrays, data collection for FLIR-guided aerial operations across study sites in the Southeast

Minimum Qualifications

Position Summary
- The selected candidate(s) will support several research efforts based out of the University of Georgia's Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL):
1) the development and field testing of lures to improve wild pig trapping efficiency,
2) the evaluation of Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) thermal technology to improve the efficacy and efficiency of aerial removal operations,
3) estimation of wild pig populations using remote cameras, and
4) attaching GPS collars to elucidate the movement ecology of wild pigs. Opportunities also may exist to assist with research evaluating the spatial ecology and population dynamics of white-tailed deer. Primary duties will include collecting and processing data evaluating performance of wild pig attractants, operating remote camera arrays, assisting with data collection and logistical coordination for FLIR-guided aerial operations across study sites in the Southeast, wild pig capture and handling for attachment of GPS collars, and video/image processing.
