Job Title

The candidate will be planning and designing experiments with PI as well as conducting experiments (cell culture, gene cloning, cell transduction, in vivo animal work).

Job Description

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform a variety of experimental studies including molecular and cellular biology experiments. Experiments may include but not be limited to performing animal works, microinjection, genotyping, western blot, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and various microscopy and imaging techniques. Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature;
Summarize and evaluate findings;
Presents findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally. Compose articles for publication in scientific journals;
Advise principal investigators and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities. In addition to general responsibilities above, the duties include, but not be limited to, determining needed new supplies and equipment, making responsible purchasing decisions, placing orders, maintaining computer database and hard copies for inventory (e.g. chemicals, supplies, frozen tissue and protein samples, antibodies, etc.)

and equipment service records, keeping laboratory equipment functional, preparation /update of animal use, biosafety, and chemical protocols, and coordinating daily operation and cleanliness of the laboratory. Maintain laboratory record keeping, laboratory supplies inventory. Attend lab meetings and discuss results, offer opinions and insight on technical problem solving and future scientific directions. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience on gene cloning and expression, cell culture, viral vector preparation, cell transduction, immunological assay, such as flow cytometry and ELISA.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality Detail-oriented Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required) Salary to be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: 8/11/26 - Until Filled Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees. Benefits that may be elected could include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), as well as earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
