Duties
- Serves as a Senior Certified Interactive On-Net Operator (ION) and subject matter expert for the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade, 782d Military Intelligence Battalion.
- Exploits computer components and architectures, including the functions of various components and peripherals, basic programming concepts, assembly codes, TCP/IP, OSI models, underlying networking protocols, security hardware, and software options.
- Maintains operational, technical, and authoritative situational awareness during exploitation and while performing Cyberspace Operations.
- Acts as an operational subject matter expert and provides input towards intelligence reports, pre/post mission briefs, and the targeting cycle.
- Coordinates with other Cyber Specialists to give and/or obtain information relating to support in cyberspace, support to collections management initiatives, planning operations and goals, and initiatives and assessments.
- Mentors developmental and Basic Certified IONs and serves on assessment panels for selection of ION candidates.
- Through regular review of message traffic, intelligence information, data analysis, and from other sources of information, identifies intelligence gaps.
- Advises supervisor on specific findings and recommends appropriate courses of action, and, provides technical feedback towards the productions of finished intelligence products.
- Provides and maintains draft documentation for cyberspace operations and CNO tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) as inputs to training programs.
- Assists with integrating Cyberspace Operations capabilities into operations/exercise design and integrating/synchronizing Cyber-related effects.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency (NSA) facilities and networks.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel will be required 25% or less of the time.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Stress is inherent in the nature of work:
The many short-suspense actions and pressures of time from nearly all contacts contribute to heightened demands. - Under crisis operations may be subject to short notice expanded hours and possible recall situations and irregular work hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Overtime/shift work may be required.
- This position is considered Non-Combat Essential (NCE) in support of the Army’s mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increased tension and mobilization and could be assigned to any location worldwide.
- Employees assigned to NCE positions must sign DD Form 2365.
- Failure to perform the duties of this position in an emergency may result in appropriate action - defined as separation for the efficiency of the Federal service under the procedures contained in 5 CFR 752.
- This position is designated Mission Essential, must be able to remain on duty or make every effort to report to duty on-time during emergency and/or crisis situations.
- Must be able to successfully complete with a passing grade the Remote Operator training course (FORGE) within the required timeframe (2 years).
- Must be able to obtain Senior level USCYBERCOM/ARCYBER JQR certification within 2 years of completing the Remote Operator training.
