Field Service Technician

WOW! is currently hiring a Field Service Technician to keep our facilities running smoothly and support customers in assigned neighborhoods.

• Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, and change‑of‑service for phone, internet, or video services.
• Install and relocate outlets.
• Install or remove converters and cable modems.
• Install interior and exterior wiring.
• Connect peripheral equipment.
• Train customers on proper use of equipment.
• Monitor, repair and record system, drop, and in‑house leakage.
• Assure proper signal levels and picture quality.
• Identify causes of picture and/or signal degradation.
• Troubleshoot from consumer device to tap.
• Repair and replace components from tap to consumer device.
• Assure system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestals.
• Take voltage measurements.
• Understand and apply FCC and NESC technical standards.
• Identify and report all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and WOW standards).
• Provide superior customer service and maintain professional appearance/behavior at all times.
• Complete all tasks to WOW! quality standards.
• Maintain excellent attendance.
• Maintain equipment and vehicle inventory, security, and maintenance per company policy.
• Replace defective or damaged tap plates and install new taps.
• Test, maintain, splice, repair and replace coax cable using signal level meters, volt‑OHM meters, spectrum analyzers, and compare findings with documentation.
• Perform network troubleshooting including ping tests, trace routes, and speed tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as training other employees.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to interact with customers and present technical information to a non‑technical audience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in measuring distances using tapes and other measuring devices.
• Proficiency in using assigned test equipment such as signal level meters (SLM) and volt‑OHM meters.
• Proficiency in accurately maintaining records, logs, reports, and work orders.
• Ability to operate the handheld Field Service Tool application.
• Ability to handle escalations and time‑critical issues.
• Ability to read street maps.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on‑call shifts.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

• Work while standing most of the time and travel over all types of terrain in all weather conditions.
• Carry tools and equipment and lift up to 90 pounds.
• Work in tight spaces, climb ladders up to 28 feet, and operate hand tools.
• Work in elevated places such as roofs and utility poles.
• Use small components and operate close‑vision devices.
• Work in poorly ventilated areas, extreme temperatures, and environments with dust, dirt, noise, insects, and cleaning solutions.
• Use power tools and handle extension ladders, aerial lift equipment, and gaffs as required.
• Drive company vehicles safely.
