- This is a safety‑sensitive position that requires a pre‑employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- This position may require on‑call rotation, emergency after‑hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications Maintenance Technician IThis is the first level in the maintenance technician series. Incumbents are being trained on the job for heavy equipment operation and repair of public works infrastructure.
- Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Valid driver's license.
- Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained within six months of employment.
This classification involves operating heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of public works infrastructure and assisting in training new employees.
- Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade.
- One year of related public works maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Valid driver's license.
- Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- CPR/First Aid Certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Road flagging certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Trench and excavation certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Confined space certificate must be obtained within six months.
This classification involves serving as a lead on the crew, training personnel, operating heavy equipment, and performing associated labor duties in the construction, repair, and maintenance of public works infrastructure, including roadways, sewer, water, and/or storm water lines.
- Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade.
- Three years of related public works maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Valid driver's license.
- Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- CPR/First Aid Certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Road flagging certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Trench and excavation certificate must be obtained within six months.
- Confined space certificate must be obtained within six months.
