Position: General Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Electrical Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine inspections, testing, and repairs of electrical systems including wiring, circuits, panels, breakers, and lighting. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently, and replace or repair defective components as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute preventive tasks to ensure optimal performance and prevent system failures. Calibrate and test equipment to verify proper functioning and compliance with technical specifications.
  • System Installation & Modifications: Assist in the installation or modification of electrical systems and equipment following applicable codes and standards. Use drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute projects accurately.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow and enforce electrical safe work practices, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE use. Adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA regulations and participate in audits, safety drills, and training.
  • Tool Usage: Maintain expert-level knowledge of hand and power tools required for maintenance and installations, ensuring they are kept in good working condition and stored properly.
  • Technical Documentation: Interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams to diagnose problems and plan maintenance or repair activities. Keep detailed records of repairs, replacements, and inspections for transparency and audit compliance.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work with technicians, engineers, and team members to complete tasks. Provide clear communication regarding system status, troubleshooting results, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, energized equipment, wet or humid conditions, fumes, loud environments, and temperature extremes. Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and operating in tight or confined spaces. Lifts tools and equipment up to 50 pounds. Requires good vision and color perception for inspecting components and reading diagrams.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in electrical service and maintenance.
  • Journeyman-level certification and licensure in electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions for electrical calculations.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools used in electrical maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Subject matter expertise in consensus codes and standards related to electrical systems, safe work practices, and hazard mitigation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams for troubleshooting and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Electrical Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in mission‑critical environments (e.g., government facilities, industrial plants, or data centers).
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), or other monitoring tools.
  • Additional certifications in energy efficiency practices, renewable energy systems, or specialized electrical maintenance.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation Details: $50,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable agreements, and relevant laws.
