General Maintenance Technician (Mechanical)

Perform maintenance, repair, and service tasks related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems. The technician ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and equipment.

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, air handling units, chillers, compressors, and condensers.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions efficiently.
• Assemble and disassemble mechanical HVAC components for repair, calibration, or replacement.
• Assist in the installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment; ensure work adheres to specifications, codes, and safety standards.
• Perform equipment testing and start‑up to ensure proper functionality before system handover.
• Safely use and maintain HVAC‑related tools and equipment, including gauges, vacuum pumps, refrigerant recovery systems, and diagnostic tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical documents, and manufacturer instructions for installation, troubleshooting, or modification of HVAC systems.
• Implement preventive maintenance tasks to minimize equipment failures and optimize system efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of system repairs, inspections, maintenance logs, and refrigerant usage to comply with environmental standards.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address complex repairs and coordinate work schedules.
• Communicate system performance, issues, or recommendations clearly with supervisors and team members.

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pressurized systems, extreme temperatures, wet and hazardous conditions, vibration, loud machinery, and elevated work spaces.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and working in cramped or awkward spaces.
• Tasks may involve lifting tools, equipment, and parts up to 50 pounds; require fine motor dexterity and good vision for close inspections.
• Periodically use hearing protection due to moderate to loud noise levels.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the commercial or industrial HVAC trade performing service and maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems, including operational principles and basic components.
• Ability to identify basic facts and terms related to heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration principles.
• Proficiency with HVAC tools and equipment, including proper use and maintenance.
• Skill in troubleshooting HVAC equipment to diagnose and correct malfunctions.
• Basic mathematical proficiency for calculations used in refrigeration and HVAC repair.
• Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operation, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, instructions, and specifications for HVAC equipment maintenance and operations.

TS/SCI with poly

• Universal CFC Certification for refrigerant handling (required).
• EPA Section
  608 Technician Certification (preferred).

• Associate degree, technical certification, or completion of an apprenticeship in HVAC/R systems or mechanical systems.
• Experience working in mission‑critical facilities, large‑scale commercial buildings, or industrial plants.
• Additional certifications such as NATE or LEED credentials.
• Familiarity with energy‑efficient HVAC practices or Building Automation Systems (BAS).

Service Contract Act (SCA) – hourly, overtime‑eligible position. Base hourly rate may be supplemented with health and welfare payments in accordance with SCA provisions. Compensation range: $50,000–$100,000 (actual pay may vary).
