Job Qualifications

High School education or equivalent preferred. Vocational school or short‑term courses with a focus in commercial roofing technology, repairs and maintenance preferred.

Certification or Licensure

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Skills

Must be able to use all construction tools and equipment. Must have leadership ability with good interpersonal skills.

Work Experience

Four years of experience on‑the‑job training in the field of construction or commercial roofing or two years of vocational training and three years of experience.

Primary Duty

This position is responsible for a variety of construction and commercial roofing maintenance jobs throughout the school district.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Plans and executes duties as a construction technician in the maintenance of school facilities, with an emphasis on commercial roofing needs.
  • Maintains and repairs all types of roofs throughout the District. Seals and repairs leaks through all rooftop equipment and HVAC units as needed.
  • Responds to emergency roof leaks or roof related problems.
  • Keeps accurate records of material and time spent on a job.
  • Provides status reports.
  • Ensures Work Order entries are properly filled in and tickets are turned in daily.
  • Reports any problems that are observed to the foreman.
  • Maintains all equipment, tools, and trucks assigned to the crew.
  • The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must have the ability to climb ladders, and work in varying weather and environmental conditions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional evening and weekend work. Overtime and night work are occasional but limited.
