General Mechanic

The General Mechanic keeps the paper mill running smoothly and safely. This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and fixing heavy industrial production machinery.

• Preventative Maintenance:
  Inspect heavy mill machinery daily to catch problems early.
• Mechanical Repairs:
  Fix pumps, valves, conveyor belts, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
• Equipment Alignment:
  Use precision tools like lasers to align shafts, motors, and bearings.
• Troubleshooting:
  Diagnose complex machine failures quickly to minimize factory downtime.
• Welding & Fabrication:
  Cut, shape, and weld metal parts to repair or modify machinery.
• Rigging:
  Safely lift and move heavy equipment using cranes, hoists, and chains.
• Safety Compliance:
  Follow all OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules, and mill safety policies.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience. Paper mill experience is highly preferred.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Proficient in reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
• Certifications:
  
  Journey-level mechanic status or a relevant technical degree is a plus.

• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Stand, walk, and climb for long periods.
• Work comfortably in hot, humid, and noisy industrial settings.
• Work safely in confined spaces or at heights.

Full-time position.

Must be willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime for emergency repairs.
