Job Summary
This role will assist with advising, programming, and recruitment efforts for the more than 300 students currently involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life, directly supporting the university's goal of increased student engagement. As participation continues to grow, additional capacity is needed to ensure consistent support, basic compliance monitoring, and intentional leadership development. This position will help sustain effective operations while enhancing the student experience within Fraternity and Sorority Life.
COUNCILADVISING & STUDENT SUPPORT
- Serve as the primary advisor for one Fraternity and Sorority Life council, with the specific council assignment determined based on institutional needs and staff expertise.
- Provide consistent, hands-on support to council officers and chapter leadership, including regular meetings, leadership coaching, and problem-solving support.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence with students through attendance at council meetings, chapter events, programs, and key milestones.
- Support advisor engagement by coordinating communication, training, and required documentation in partnership with Fraternity and Sorority Life leadership.
- Serve as a point of contact for advisors related to council operations, events, and intake processes.
- Ensure advisor presence and compliance requirements are met for applicable activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for council officers regarding expectations, deadlines, policies, and procedures.
- Provide clear, timely communication and consistent follow-up to ensure accountability and alignment.
- Document meetings, action items, and outcomes to support continuity and institutional memory.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute programs, initiatives, and signature events in alignment with Fraternity and Sorority Life goals and university policies.
- Develop detailed event timelines, run-of-show documents, logistics plans, and post-event follow-up documentation.
- Collaborate with chapter leaders, advisors, and campus partners to deliver high-quality Fraternity and Sorority Life programming that supports leadership development, chapter sustainability, and community engagement.
- Support the assessment of Fraternity and Sorority Life programs through attendance tracking, feedback collection, and post-event summaries to inform continuous improvement.
- Ensure events are well-organized, compliant, and contribute positively to campus culture and student engagement.
- Serve as the primary staff member overseeing intake logistics and compliance with the assigned council.
- Ensure all intake-related activities follow institutional, council, and national organization guidelines.
- Manage intake timelines, required documentation, approvals, and communication with chapter leadership and advisors.
- Monitor risk management concerns and elevate issues to the Assistant Director or Director as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for council operations, including rosters, officer lists, advisor agreements, training completion, intake documentation, and compliance materials.
- Track participation, engagement, and completion of required trainings and processes.
- Ensure all documentation is organized, accessible, and submitted in accordance with office and institutional expectations.
- Support the collection and review of chapter and council data to assist with annual reporting, trend analysis, and informed decision-making.
- Assist with monitoring chapter and council adherence to institutional policies and FSL guidelines by coordinating compliance timelines, reminders, and follow-up communication.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director and Director to align council operations with broader Fraternity & Sorority Life strategy.
- Share insights, trends, and concerns from council-level work to inform office-wide planning and assessment.
