Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Manager for the Outpatient Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC).
Primary PurposeThe Program Manager position provides clinical and administrative direction and oversight to assigned programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing best practice interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the administrative and clinical organization of the program.
- Interview candidates for vacant positions and recommend hires to Human Resources.
- Maintain knowledge of mental‑health field trends, attend training and in‑service meetings, and promote best practices.
- Review clinical records and provide feedback; complete qualitative chart reviews as requested by the Clinical Documentation Subcommittee.
- Complete the Annual Employee Health Update (including PPD).
- Support the University’s workplace diversity and EEO goals.
FLSA:
Exempt
Grade: 30S
Salary Range: $105,763 – $161,814 (based on qualifications and available funds).

Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, day shift. Position requires a fully on‑site arrangement.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree in a behavioral health discipline and five years of postgraduate experience, or a doctorate.
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
- For Social Work degree holders: active New Jersey certification/licensure.
- Clinical licensing as required by discipline.
- License for independent practice (e.g., LPC, LCSW, Psychologist) as required by New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
- Extensive knowledge of behavioral‑health prevention services.
- Strong human‑relations and leadership skills; ability to work effectively in a team.
- Understanding of high performance requirements in a unionized environment.
- Experience with physical demands: walking, standing, bending; travel within NJ; ability to document using computer; tolerance for moderate noise and fast pace.
