Temporary Driver - Mobile Health Unit

The Georgia Department of Public Health (Augusta) is seeking an experienced driver to operate a 40-foot Mobile Health Unit serving underserved communities across our 13-county service area
. The Mobile Health Unit is a custom-built Freightliner staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, Registration Clerk, and Driver and deployed on a rotating county schedule.

Location: Augusta, GA (travel throughout the 13-county East Central Georgia area)
Schedule: 4 to 5 days a week Weekdays only - No evenings
Duration: Temporary assignment, up to 4 months’
Pay:$20/hour
CDL: Not required (preferred)

• Safely operate a 40-ft Mobile Health Unit to rotating sites across the district
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report concerns promptly
• Load, unload, fuel, set up, pack up, and secure the unit and related equipment
• Assist with site readiness and breakdown (as assigned)
• Maintain professionalism with staff, partners, and community members while on-site
• Follow all safety, traffic, and departmental procedures while driving and operating the unit

• 4 to 5 days a week
• No weekends
• No overnight travel
• Routes rotate across district counties as scheduled

• Demonstrated experience driving large vehicles (40-ft vehicle experience strongly preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to travel to rotating county sites during scheduled weekday
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow written and verbal instructions

• CDL (preferred, not required)
• Experience driving commercial, medical, or specialty vehicles (bus/RV/box truck/mobile unit)

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform the physical duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
