Job Qualifications- Education:
A high school diploma, associate’s degree, and/or related experience are preferred. - Certification or Licensure:
Must possess a valid state driver’s license (class
5). - Skills:
Strong experience in heavy equipment operations with a clean driving record, knowledge of workplace safety practices, and ability to handle various duties on the job to ensure smooth and efficient project progress. - Work Experience:
Three years’ experience as a heavy equipment operator. Practical experience through apprenticeships or on-the-job training can also be beneficial.
This position is responsible for independent judgment concerning work methods and procedures, but the work is subject to inspection during the process and upon completion for quality and conformity with requirements. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery used in construction and maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment (crawler, motor grader, backhoe, trucks over 24,000 lbs.).
- Load and unload equipment from transport vehicles.
- Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure it is in good working order.
- Transport equipment to the job site.
- Maintain equipment and accessories used with heavy equipment.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
- Responsible for proper use and safety of equipment during off‑duty hours for unfinished jobs.
- Keep records on weight load and heights when hauling materials and the count on several loads delivered.
- Keep accurate time sheets.
- Help deliver food service materials.
- Clear land with heavy equipment and small equipment such as chainsaws.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned or required by supervisors, school personnel, policy, regulations, and handbook.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.
Special RequirementsOccasional evening and weekend work. Overtime and night work are occasional but limited.

Salary: $34,885 to $46,951 per year
