Responsibilities
As a Final Mile Driver, you will pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally, not including hazardous materials, in a non‑CDL‑A vehicle. You are responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination. Load and unload shipments, individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment. Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight. Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips, and submit a written Vehicle Condition Report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip.
Check shipping papers to ensure hazardous materials are not present. Ensure all shipping documentation (manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, etc.) is available for inspection and accompanies the shipment when delivered. Properly handle and complete all necessary paperwork related to vehicle operations and freight movements.
- At least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check and alcohol and drug test.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR).
- At least 6 months of driving experience, including a personal motor vehicle.
- Willingness to enter Southeast’s Driver Trainee Program after completing one year in the Final Mile Driver role.
- Preferred experience:
pallet jack, load & unload, box truck, delivery driver, or CDL‑B.
Hourly pay ranges from $31.35 to $34.50, depending on location and experience.
Work shift:
First Shift.
