This position creates a flexible elementary program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils to motivate them to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education in accordance with each pupils ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned.

* Teaches district approved curriculum.

* Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students work.

* Instructs pupils in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law and district policies.

* Develop lesson plans and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum to meet each pupils needs.

* Uses developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

* Communicates regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.

* Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.

* Evaluates pupils academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records and preparing progress reports.

* Identifies pupil needs and makes referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.

* Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

* Plans and coordinates the work of para educators and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.

* Maintains confidentiality of student information.

Salary Information

Starting salary $49,000 with a bachelor's degree based upon the  salary schedule, higher depending upon experience, graduate hours, and FTE.
