The Youth Pastor (hereafter referred to as "YP") is called to facilitate the strengthening of God’s Kingdom in Butler County. This position will primarily work with middle and high school program (as well as with adult) supporting the vision, purpose, and goals of HCC. There are two primary realms of focus to this position:
- Youth Ministry
- TBD Ministry – The second area of service in the church will be determined between applicant and the Elders of the church based on the Youth Pastor’s gifts and passions. Examples could include Worship, College, or Outreach, etc. This is to be determined in consultation with the Elders.
- Student Ministry – The YP will:
- Be responsible for the organization of Sunday School for the high school and middle school age.
- Work with the Lead Pastor and Children’s Director to maintain the Wednesday Night ministry (focusing on the middle and high school).
- Organize training, service, or mission events for middle and high school students, including community and interchurch events.
- Reach into the lives of the parents of middle and high school students.
- Be supportive of student extra‑curricular activities through attendance as available.
- Show an ability and willingness to counsel students and families as needed.
- Participate in leadership at Prairie View Christian Camp and be involved with at least one week of camp in the summers.
- TBD Ministry – The responsibilities for this position will depend on the chosen field of service by the YP, and defined in coordination with the Elders.
- Other roles - The YP will:
- Work with the elders and Lead Pastor to execute the vision of the church.
- Be open and agreeable to other involvements as required.
- The Lead Pastor shall be the daily representative of the Elders to all other paid ministry staff. It is his role to execute the vision of the Elders in the daily business of the church. He will have oversight over the ministry staff and they will report to him.
- The Lead Pastor shall conduct a bi‑weekly ministry staff meeting. Time and duration shall be at his discretion. All members of the staff are to work harmoniously and closely together as a team.
- The Lead Pastor shall provide the staff with clearly defined goals and objectives while allowing the staff to use their creative gifts to meet these goals.
- All full‑time paid ministry staff are expected to maintain a physical presence in the church building for approximately 20 hours per week between the hours of 9AM-3PM.
- Each ministry staff member shall be responsible and accountable for all expenditures and monies collected for their prospective ministries.
- All monies received shall be specifically identified as to their encumbrance and promptly given to the Office Administrator.
- Staff have the flexibility to purchase items within their already defined budget.
- The HCC credit card shall only be used for authorized church business.
- Ministry staff will maintain good administrative habits
- They will work to be organized and thorough in their plans and executions.
- They will supply volunteers with all necessary plans, lessons, resources well in advance.
- They will communicate with each other, the Elders, and the congregation clearly and consistently.
